A Holloway Less Steep
illustrated by L. E. Wynn
Holloway
noun /ˈhɒl.əʊ.weɪ/
a walking path or road that is much lower than the land on either side of it, because the ground has eroded (= worn away) over time
Imagine a river. A gathering of rain, accumulating into a rapid channel, flowing diligently to the collective sea. If all that water were to vanish, left behind would be a Holloway. Not one made by us, but by nature. The river takes the easiest path, carving out a smooth way over centuries of repetition. It will never flow uphill, never deviate except when obstacles get in the way.
A Holloway Less Steep is a rejection of the easy path, a conscious effort to take the harder road rather than fall into routine and rut. In this innovative poetry collection, each poem is a stepping stone on the road to freedom. Following the river from mouth to source, we unpick the threads which bind us to a passive path, enriching our lives with wild wonder.
To be truly alive in the magic of existence, we must engage ourselves in work. Especially if it is hard. That is how we free ourselves from the current and forge our own inspiring path.
Bramwell Griffiths is a prolific landscape poet based in the Midlands. With Welsh heritage and a Bsc in Countryside Management from Aberystwyth University, their poetry explores the gulf between nature and people. They also run a poetry zine called 'Bearly There.'

Legends Less Sweet
A ghostly chorus from the gothic North — eight tales of vengeance, sorrow, and spectres, told by a master of the spoken word.
Step into the mist-shrouded ruins and firelit hearths of Legends Less Sweet, a chilling collection of ghost stories and folk horror from the shadowy lands of the North. From screaming skulls in the Lake District and spectral brides on the Borders, to vampiric apparitions and eldritch witches, these tales draw on ancient lore and historical legend to summon the eerie, the uncanny, and the truly terrifying.
Rooted in the landscapes of Northern England, Scotland, and Iceland — and inspired by the oral tradition — this collection revives the storytelling spirit with a voice that is intimate, poetic, and profoundly unsettling.
P. D. Brown has performed across the UK, Europe, and the U.S., weaving tales of Celtic and Germanic myth, ancient magic, and haunting folklore. In 2023, he performed at the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, bringing his singular mix of research, rhythm, and theatrical flair to wide acclaim. In Legends Less Sweet, he invites readers into a gothic tradition that echoes with centuries of ghost-lore and folk horror.
